Unfortunately, the mission was a failure from the start. Orbital mines over the planet of Hypori destroyed the task force's transport ships causing them to crash behind enemy lines and killing most of the Clone Trooper forces. The Jedi were trapped and surrounded not only by thousands of battle droids, but thousands of battle droids commanded by none other than General Grievous. As the droids closed in around the Jedi, Daakman Barrek only had time to send a quick message to General Obi-Wan Kenobi informing the Jedi of the mission's failure and warning them of a new and seemingly unstoppable Separatist leader, General Grievous. A casualty of the Clone Wars, Daakman Barrek, Jedi Knight and Master became one with the Force that fateful day on Hypori.
